Tomorrow, Thursday August 21 at 5pm, Jess’s friend Zoë Schlanger will be talking about her new book about plant behavior, The Light Eaters, at Barnswallow Books in Rockport. Come learn about the world of plant behavior (light refreshments provided).
Saturday (Aug 23) from 10am-3pm in Union, Danny Salomon and Second Story Builders are holding the first Radical Reuse Festival & Artisan Fair! Furniture and art from repurposed materials, woodshop tour, kids games and activities (giant Jenga, cornhole, quoits, natural dyeing), music by Eenor’s Sonic Wallpaper and Jim Gibson, FUZE Street Food and Chloe’s Banana Nice Cream.

August 22-24, Belfast Maskers performs “If a Tree Falls”, an environment and anti-war themed folk musical in Belfast. Tickets available here.

BS+Beer Maine is back! The first meeting will be at Marshall Wharf Brewing in Belfast, probably 5pm September 11, to be confirmed. After that, they will aim meet on the second Wednesday of each month, at different locations. The discussions will be moderated and open to everyone! We’re partnering with Tia and team to bring happy hour to the ReStore - a great space with an excellent mission, and materials for your next project! Come have a beverage with neighbors and learn about Habitat’s work and volunteer needs.

Be a community Energy Coach - CamdenCAN, the Rockport Conservation Commission, and both towns are starting a neighbor-to-neighbor program to help people (a) prioritize energy upgrades, (b) review contractor recs or quotes, (c) navigate rebates & financing. No technical expertise required - there will be training.

The Maine Transactive Energy Pilot is seeking 10-20 more homes to test the future of energy demand management - help ease pressure on our grid and lower costs for everyone.
Anyone with heat pumps, hybrid water heaters, battery storage, EVs or EV chargers is eligible – just 1 is enough!
Pilot equipment will manage devices when the grid is under stress, subject to comfort range you select
